Presumed innocent book review7/7/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Put this one on your don't-miss list." - Stephen King I came away feeling amazed and fulfilled, as we only do when we read novelists at the height of their powers. "Scott Turow's new novel is the dedicated fiction-reader's version of El Dorado: a driving, unputdownable courtroom drama/murder mystery that is also a literary treasure, written in language that sparkles with clarity and resonates with honest character insight. This is a beautifully written book with finely drawn characters and an intricate plot seamlessly weaving a troubled family story with a murder." - Library Journal "But this time the courtroom drama has a mechanical feel to it, as if Turow accepted a dare to put Sabitch and Molto back in the courtroom, older, but in the same position and pickle as in Presumed Innocent." - Booklist The various perspectives - with some characters knowing more than the reader does, while the reader knows more than others - contribute to an exquisite tension that drives the narrative." - Kirkus Reviews Once again, Turow displays an uncanny ability for making the passions and contradictions of his main characters accessible and understandable. ![]()

Haunting adeline hd carlton7/6/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm trapped in a world full of monsters dressed as men, and those who aren't as they seem. Death walks alongside me, But the reaper is no match for me. The conclusion to the Cat and Mouse Duet is here. I commented much the same in my review for Satan's Affair, and I'm impressed to see that my observation wasn't a one-time deal with her. 16.89 15 Used from 14.99 22 New from 16.89. ![]() Sometimes, it's good for a story to be all about the smexy times, but heavier subjects deserve to have more substance than the number of positions and o-faces we read about, you know? In my opinion, HD's overall writing style keeps a wonderful balance of the steamy scenes and the rest of the storyline and is one of her greatest strengths in writing these dark romances. But I think the timing really works better to showcase their overall growth into a couple and help put focus onto the other parts of the storyline. ![]() Look for a cameo from a cute little psycho dolly, too! The development of Zade and Addie's romantic relationship is actually fairly slow, all things considered. I'm mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves. We have graphic descriptions of murders, non-con/dub-con encounters between our leads, discussions of human trafficking focused heavily on child victims, and good old fashioned stalking. This book is fairly lengthy and honestly delves into some pretty dark subject matter. ![]() Fair game alpha and omega7/6/2023 ![]() ![]() I love how Briggs presents it to the readers as well. Which means Charles is killing many and it is starting to weigh him down. Trying to keep the peace, Bran sends Charles out to kill those wolves who have stepped over their boundaries. While they can assimilate with the general public, they have a very violent edge and it doesn’t take much for them to eat someone. Patricia Briggs writes her werewolves to be very carnal in nature. Recently, werewolves outted themselves to the public and it is all about keeping a positive spin with the public. Charles is the Marrok’s punisher for lack of a better word. ![]() ![]() In Fair Game, book three, Patricia Briggs continues to explore the dynamics between this very alpha, serious and quiet wolf Charles and his stubborn wife. Of course, her human appearance makes her look like a fragile woman, but don’t be fooled. Anna is an Omega, a wolf that can calm the fiercest of tempers and is also strong enough to look the Marrock in the eye. Charles is the only known born werewolf, and son of the Marrock (Alpha of ALL werewolves of North America, Bran). In this series we explore the complex relationship of Charles and Anna. She has expanded it over two series, her Mercy Thompson series and this one, Alpha & Omega. ![]() I love this urban fantasy world Patricia Briggs has created. The book’s clear, attractive layout and design therefore informs as much as it inspires.
